Had a great fun day at Redcar at a little known spot that kicks up barrel after barrel.

This past week since returning from Cape Town has been insane,,

A decent Northerly swell was coming through and holding for a few days with 14/16 second intervals combing with a cross off to off shore wind so it was looking good for a short road trip North into Northumberland and check out a couple spots I’d never ridden before

I spend 3 weeks thousands of miles away and get some incredible conditions but get some of the best wave conditions I’ve ever had on the East. It may be cold in the NE but we have some of the best reef breaks and when it works there are few places that compare, I can;t give the names of the spots because they are also surf spots that I don’t want to get crowded and cause friction with the surfers but the days we hit it were too windy for surfing and there are sheltered spots close by so myself, James Conor and on the second day Scott Bourn headed up, met with Steve Thorp (a talented wave windsurfer) had the place to ourselves.

Day 1, unfortunately the better day we didn’t have a photographer, but the second day Emma came up and took some shots. On the first day we kited a point break for a hour or so before heading upwind to check out a beach break that I have kited several times and know it can work really well.. and it was! Two totally different waves, the point break almost identical to a Left handed Ponta Preta! pretty offshore and its a case of picking your line and going, not great for linking vertical turns but very possible to get barrelled albeit at your peril if you get rinsed here! There is no beach and the wave can be heavy and pretty unforgiving if you get it wrong. Release your kite and its bye bye!
It took quite a while to get positioned here as a couple feet too far up wind and you pull into the ‘A frame’section that drills straight onto the rock but I managed to get to grips with it by day 2 and got 2 covers on the bounce, the first pretty sketchy but the second was deep and in the barrel.
James got some great rides too and was riding backside and pulling into some bombs! If only he’d remove them straps!!?

Northumberland has to be my favourite place arguably in the World to kite. The beaches, water and breaks are stunning, uncrowded and with a Northerly swell barreling reefs are everywhere!

Just back from a few days in Rhossy which Blew up big time and delivered some amazing conditions.. Mild, windy and a real nice ground swell pushing up through the Irish sea drummed up perfect cross shore conditions in the bay and having just got my new North XSurf board a 4 dayer was on the cards.. didnt get too many pics but Jemma Grobbelaar took a few snaps from her top floor flat. check em out! Hello guys! Had a total nightmare recently with web providers so the site has been down for some time and is as you can see being re-built.

The good news is it will soon be loaded with new stuff as I’ve been a very busy chap! I’ve just returned from Lanzarote with Ding from Supersaturated and Womens Wave Champion Kirsty Jones where we hit the waves, nearly got hit by locals and just had an epic trip.
