Dave Ibby Kitesurfing Clinics

“Former British Kitesurfing Champion, North International Rider and Team Manager, Dave ‘Ibby’ Ibbertson has coached in various sporting fields for over 20 years, has become a well know, liked and respected ambassador of the kite surfing World, continually pushing not only his own limits but of all those around him!” Kitesurf magazine

There is no doubt that with kitesurfing, the sky is literally the limit and everyone wants to become a better kitesurfer and have a good time doing it. On a Dave Ibby clinic we never lose sight of the fact that this is your holiday but aim to ensure you get the most out of the experience and bust those moves that you have been dreaming of!
I have a real hunger to see kiters make vast improvements on my courses and firmly believe that this means lots of quality time on the water and through good clear demonstrations. No matter what move you want to do, whether your first pop, transition, kiteloop, danglepass or kiteloop slim chance, I am the only UK coach who can take you through all the moves with a clear demonstration, breaking down each into manageable chunks.

The Course (How it works)

There is no set timetable for each day as the course of events is governed by the conditions on the day, the wind, tide and energy levels, but this is how a typical day would run.

Day 1.
On the first evening we have a personal and honest chat. This gives you the chance to make a ‘wish list’ of the moves you want to achieve. E.g. First jump, raley, KGB etc. and gives me an idea of the best way to help you progress. Then on the first day we go kite! This gives me the opportunity to see you on the water so we can formulate an action plan.
Although this is your first day you will drink your first cold beer with a smile on your face having learned something new!

Day 2 & Onwards
If necessary we will run through some dry land simulations and theory before the wind builds, followed by some pre kite stretches.

On the water.

From here on in we start the structured session plans and the real fun begins!

Because everyone is individual and learn in different ways and at different speeds, I use a number of different teaching techniques including:

One to One. I like to ensure that throughout the course/holiday you get my undivided attention for one to one sessions. This is by the far the best way for you to improve. Without pressures from other riders I can work closely with you, give individual feedback, demonstrations, mirror learning sessions and targets for you to aim at. The improvement from your very first one to one will be huge! Trust me!

We will also Kite plenty as a group, as it too helps to push your limits as well as just being good fun, sociable and gives everyone a wipeout to talk and ‘laugh’ about in the bar after the session!

Video/Camera Coaching. There is no way of hiding your mistakes from the camera, which makes it an excellent coaching tool.

Mirror Coaching. You follow me and I follow you. There is no better way of learning if you can see the move on the move and close up! And there is no better way of rectifying mistakes is I can see them close up and as they happen.

Free Riding. There will be plenty of free kiting sessions too. It is important to just go kite, digest and practise what I have shown you.
